Date: ca. 1972–1973

On January 4, 1972, Hewlett-Packard introduced the HP 35, the first handheld scientific calculator. Designed to fit into a shirt pocket (under Bill Hewlett’s direction), the device was the first product Hewlett-Packard advertised directly to consumers.
