Next Up: NetServer Networked Computers

The NetServer series launched in 1993 — the LM 4/33 was among its introductory products. Networked computers were becoming more common in small and medium-sized businesses, and NetServer staked out Hewlett-Packard’s prominent position in those markets. A Hewlett-Packard representative said at the time, “We intend to be a short-list vendor in this business…We’re giving customers everything they need to put us on that list: performance, price and, most of all, servers that are extremely easy to manage.” NetServer would grow to encompass an entire family of Hewlett-Packard products.
