Date: September 1998

Employees of the Vancouver, Washington, office painted the city’s Red Cross building as part of the 1998 United Way Day of Caring. HP employees had worked on dozens of local projects over the years, including building benches for a men’s shelther and donating to the neighborhood arts scene. “Hewlett-Packard stands as a symbol of what good companies do to make their communites better,” said Vancouver Mayor Royce Pollard in 1999, the same year HP celebrated 20 years in the city.
