Date: 1977

In 1977, Kyoko Sagimori of Hewlett-Packard’s Santa Clara division gave Hewlett-Packard a glass bonsai tree. A glassblower who pursued art in her spare time, Sagimori crafted the item on lunch breaks and evenings. She made this item for Hewlett-Packard simply because, as she explained, “I wanted to give the company something.” The tree still resides near Bill Hewlett’s desk in his preserved office at 1501 Page Mill Road to this day.
