Date: 1964

Hewlett-Packard operated on a policy of nondiscrimination from its beginnings, but in the early years the policy was unstated. On March 6, 1964, amid the tumult of the Civil Rights movement, Dave Packard reiterated the policy unequivocally, stating “we must continue to make any effort to minimize any possibilities of discrimination, not only because it is good corporate business, but it is our responsibility as citizens.”
