Date: 1956

In 1956, Hewlett-Packard created Dynac — renamed Dymec in 1958 — to work on systems in which multiple products were combined to carry out a specific purpose, such as radar simulators for missile development and digital automation devices. These pursuits would slowly lead Hewlett-Packard into the computer business — Dymec’s first product was DY-2500 “Computing Digital Indicator,” and Dymec would create Hewlett-Packard’s first computer, the 2116A, in 1966.
