Date: 1960

The grand opening of 1501 Page Mill Road in 1960 included some 43,000 square feet of courtyard space, giving employees the chance to participate in recreational activities and sports on HP’s campus. Horseshoes, volleyball and ping-pong were especially popular. “Exciting, top-flight tournament type play [was] the usual order of the day” on the patio, according to a company newsletter.
