“Management by Walking Around” continued even as the company expanded throughout the globe. Managers across the company practiced it regularly, and Bill and Dave were always glad to participate when they toured international facilities. As Dave once wrote of international site reviews, “our visits always included a walk around the facilities, giving us the opportunity to meet and chat informally with our employees and see the work they were doing.”
