Date: 1971

Digital Equipment Corporation’s PDP-10, first released in 1966 and shown here as part of the company’s DECsystem line, was one of the most important computers ever produced. It made time-share computing common, both forwarding the computer revolution and opening up a key business avenue for Hewlett-Packard. The machine’s capabilities made it important in the development, implementation and operation of ARPANET, the network predecessor to the internet. DEC joined Hewlett-Packard in 2002.
