HP Avondale Division and FAME

Many HP diversity initiatives launched at the local level. In 1978, the Avondale division began participating in FAME, the Forum to Advance Minorities in Engineering, which sought to provide educational opportunities to students from sixth grade through high school. Three FAME students were given summer jobs at Avondale, including Pettus Hickman.
