Front and Center: Product Assembly

Barbara Brown and June Wessel worked on pre-fab assemblies in Hewlett-Packard’s recently constructed Stanford Unit no. 2, one of the company’s first facilities at Stanford Research Park. The new facility placed an emphasis on “product-centered” methods of assembly, which grouped workers such as Brown and Wessel with equipment and the responsibility to produce certain instruments.
