A Letter of Commendation
Date: 1947
The war brought Hewlett-Packard into its first work on microwave technology through the Leopard project, a top secret program to disrupt enemy radar and protect Allied ships. The demands of the project were so intense that Dave Packard often spent nights on a cot in his office. After the war, the Navy gave Dave a personal commendation for his contributions to that and other aspects of the war effort, and microwave technology became one of Hewlett-Packard’s most important business avenues.
