The 7963 featured an easy upgrade capability. Additional 5.25-inch drive mechanisms (up to a total of three) could simply be connected via the Hewlett-Packard Interface Bus and dropped into place. It was a sign of Hewlett-Packard’s recognition that enterprise computing had become mainstream enough to create a need for readily customizable and upgradeable data solutions.
