Hewlett-Packard Korea (originally “Samsung Hewlett-Packard”) was founded in 1984 as a joint venture with Samsung. The company became so successful that in 1998 Hewlett-Packard CEO Lew Platt became the first overseas CEO to meet with South Korean President (and future Nobel Prize winner) Kim Dae-jung.
