Time and termites took their toll on the Addison Avenue site where Hewlett-Packard began — Bill Hewlett’s shed most of all. Bill lived in this structure when he moved to the property and he referred to his humble home as “the cottage.” A hole in the roof was just one of the obvious signs that time had not been kind to Bill’s bunkhouse. Following the purchase of the property by Hewlett-Packard, restoration plans were devised to rebuild and recreate the shed as it would have appeared in 1938–1939.
