The interior of Hewlett-Packard production facilities throughout the world — like this one in Germany — followed the same conceptual floor plan as their American counterparts, combining individual space and openness with proximity to coworkers. The open spaces encouraged management by walking around, but also afforded workers a measure of individual space.
