Hewlett-Packard’s Digital-Data-Storage Data-Compressed (DDS-DC) Digital Audio Tape (DAT) compressed data that was identical or repetitive, allowing the data to use up less space on a digital tape, thus making it provide faster backups with lower outlays for cartridges or storage space.
