Flora Hewlett: Bill’s Better Half

Bill Hewlett married Flora Lamson in 1939, Hewlett-Packard’s first year of operation. When she and Bill began dating, Flora’s friends worried that Bill’s dream of starting his own business would jeopardize her future. Instead, she helped him build up Hewlett-Packard into a multi-national company even as they raised five children together. This picture shows the Hewletts at Squaw Valley for the opening of the 1960 Olympics.
